Boston to New York

Outside the window

As I've said before, the stuff in this blog will most likely not be in any kind of chronological order. I have other blogs to do that in.

This shot was taken from the window of the train I took from Boston to New York when I went back to the east coast for a friend's wedding in June 2009.

The landscape was very different from anything I had seen before (aside from in the movies). A lot of green and a lot of water. It was a dreary day which made for some great shots.

It wasn't until I got back to California that noticed the 14 goslings and their mother creating trails in the wet grass as they ran from the metal monster that no doubt disturbed their otherwise quiet afternoon.

Coffee yogurt

This photo is from a while back, but I still want to say: Coffee yogurt is not a great idea.I'm still not quite sure why I bought it in the first place. Maybe I thought it would be like coffee cream.

I'm sure *someone* likes it since it's still on the supermarket shelves, but my taste buds fully rejected the concept of sour coffee. I ate all of it, but I don't think I could do that again.

6changes: Week 1

A friend introduced me and another close friend to a site and we've all decided to try out a habit changing method called 6 Changes. It works off the idea that resolutions (like New Year's) often fail because it's too much too quickly. 6 Changes means taking 6 habits (either bad ones to stop or good ones to start) and taking baby steps over 2 months, one habit at a time, to make it permanent. And also to be as public as possible about it to make it harder to back out.

The 6 I've chosen are: Exercise every day; write better; speak better; read more; keep in touch; stop procrastinating.
I'll figure out the details of the latter 5 when I get to them, for now: Exercise!

While I was in Boston, I used to take cardio kick-boxing classes at the gym which was next to my dorm. It felt great and I could tell my body was changing in good ways. Unfortunately after I graduated and came home, I've stopped moving all together and as a result, obviously, I'm totally out of shape.

So my first baby step is the workout menu in the picture. Pathetically easy. But that gives me pretty much no excuse to not do it. I'll be increasing the numbers and adding stretches as the weeks go by. Three days in and I haven't missed a day yet (would be sad if I did). I've been keeping track on paper (on my daily procrastination calendar) but I'll probably post progress reports here about once a week.

Here's to a better 2010.

Beaker! And Beakers!

By some random whim, I stumbled across the Muppets singing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody on YouTube. It was glorious. From there I found a video of Beaker singing Ode to Joy, which was equally as glorious. Both are from the official Muppet Channel on YouTube. Started off the day laughing so hard, my stomach hurt.

New Year's at the Beach

After having osechi, my dad said "Let's go to the beach!" so we did. How Southern Californian to go to the beach on New Year's Day. It was a gorgeous day and the wind wasn't too strong and we could see all the way to Catalina Island. Impressive.

As expected, I took a lot of pictures and have uploaded a lot of them onto Flickr.
