'Winter' in SoCal

The side yard today at 10am. It's 80 degrees (about 27C) and I'm walking around in a t-shirt. I love SoCal. Yes, you can hate me.

I'm leaving on a jet plane

And I'll be back in 2 weeks.

Full flight and it's raining in both Japan and SoCal.

At least I have a lot of things to distract me.

Catch you on the other side!

At the gate

Nothing left to do but wait.

Oh yeah, and randomly I heard an airline paging a Mr. Toriumi, which a rather unique name and happens to be the name of a seiyuu and it was followed by a page for a Mr. Sugita. I gotta wonder if it was actually them. It was one of those final boarding calls.

This made me want to play Vitamin Y, which I think I'll do after I post this entry.

Slept like a rock for 3 hours in the day room.

Now I'm having some ramen while watching the shuttle go back and forth between the two Terminal 2 buildings.

I still have 2 hours until boarding, but it's doable.

Dayroom @ Narita

Being completely unable to stay awake and having a good 6 hours before boarding, I opted to get a day room and sleep without worrying about my bags being stolen.

Cost some cash, but now I'm laying in a bed and going to take a 3 hour nap. And thank goodness for my earplugs because someone brought in a crying baby.

On the plane

Doing the mask thing. Dude, I *look* like I haven't slept. Oh well, that's the truth, so I guess it can't really be helped. Not like I'm trying to impress anyone.

NGO to NRT on a fancy new plane.

More people than I expected, but it's all good.

Having lunch for breakfast.

My last DARK! photo for a while.

I'm on the first train out on my way to the airport.

Strangely awake despite having on slept from 11pm to midnight.

It's the travel highs.

My bag is much smaller than I expected and it's mostly gifts.

More space to bring back stuff from home.

Will make a few more posts before I leave Japan. Catch you laters.

Unagi pie from Hama and Black Thunder from Toyohashi. Also had some tea from Chikumeido in my backpack.

Yep. Getting ready to go back to SoCal.

Today is a packing day since I have a solid work weekend ahead of me. But I was up until 4am, so I'm going back to bed for a bit.

Headed back to Nagoya

If I'm leaving work, I say I'm headed home. But from my grandmother's, it's "headed to Nagoya".

Next week, I'll heading home for realz.

Good old SoCal.

Awesome people!

Baby-back ribs!

Cranapple juice!

Lemons from the yard!

TV! Castle! Bam! says the lady!

And the high desert!

Two weeks is short, but I'm glad to have the freedom that I do with my work schedule.

Life is good.

Believe it or not,

This is work-related.

But what does it mean?!

LaChic, one of the shopping establishments in Sakae, where I work, is having a sale and has dubbed it the

This name bothered me for days until I finally saw a commercial for the sale and remembered that Japanese people tend to pronounce "chic" as if it rhymed with "sick" and have limited recognition between "R" and "L".

Then factor in that "ur" can be mistaken for "er" and adjust for spelling.

What do you get?

It's a Jurassic sale!

I'm going to assume a connection is suppossed to be made from Jurassic to dinosaurs to big. And not to sudden, but inevitable betrayal.

Some of you may recognize the gold creature. It's a golden shachi. There are two that decorate the top of Nagoya castle. According to Lachic, the female one went on a shopping spree.

Well kinda.

So I'm on the train and thinking that while a messenger bag might screw up my back, it's much easier to deal with than a backpack.

That's all I got for today.

6am on a Monday DARK!

Sometimes I get on a crowded train and everyone just blends together. And then there are mornings like today where there are only enough people to fill the end seats but there's the high school girl with the straw hat that just has to mean she's doing something ONE PIECE at school, the other high school girl who sat down and opened up a combini dessert as the older businessman to her right looked up from his book and gave a sidelong disapproving glance at her breakfast, and the pair of older ladies who made me so happy I didn't forget my MP3 player in the charger because they don't seem to mind that without a lot of bodies to absorb the sound, their voices carry far too well for a Monday DARK!

Well, my stop is coming up. Catch you laters.

One week!

By this time next week, I'll be debating sleep or staying up all night. It'll probably be the latter. Gotta catch the 5:36 train to Centrair.

Ooh, that reminds me, I need to make a list of what I'm bringing with me. Was just about to forget to get my cell from my grandmother's.

Doesn't feel like I've been gone for almost 8 months. First thing I'm doing, running after Chicago and givin e hin a huge hug.

Weekend food

It's become a regular thing for me to buy sandwich parts and assemble mini-sandwiches during my breaks through the day.

Zapped in the microwave for melted cheesiness.

To work!

Got home at past midnight yesterday and I didn't even notice.

Thankfully I only put in that kind of schedule on Fridays because my day starts at 10 on the weekend.

A friend mentioned yesterday that I look cuter, but when I said I hadn't changed my makeup or anything. On the way home, I realized that I have been laughing a lot lately because I'm back to listening to radio shows and laughing a lot. As a result, I'm also naturally seeing the world in a brighter light. So yeah.

I've been having more creative output. Also the idea of seeing Chicago soon makes me VERY happy.

So as much as my life is nowhere near stable, I'm good. I'm moving forward. And in the words of Jayne, well, that's something.

To work! At 4:30pm

You know, when I think about my 10pm-2am Disneyland shifts, 5:30pm-11pm doesn't seem too bad.

Especially since I spent the day sleeping in, doing laundry, listening to Mamo-1, and seeing the last Bones for a while due to Emily's maternity leave.

It was a good day. I almost want to do just night classes if I thought it work, but in the end, this schedule works for me.

Oh, and the second pic. Why are the white furry fluffballs of cuteness coming to Aichi right when I'm going back home? Gah! I wanted to meet them!

Dinner party

One of the girls at the house made dinner. Yum!

Finding a rhythm

Not sure if I have yet, but it kind of feels like I have.

I'll enjoy it while it lasts or until someone destroys it, whichever comes first.

Got tomorrow morning off. Score! Evening classes until closing, but I'm going to enjoy sleeping in and getting stuff done.

Then a relatively full weekend. Yay.

Mabo's 35 years old!

Wow. Just wow.

I was already a fan when he turned 20.

I'm not an obsessed fan anymore, but he still has a special place in my heart.

Monday 9am

Headed to work.

On any other Monday, I'd be getting off work about now. But today's a holiday so I'm off to Meieki for the day. Might take the last part of the day off to pick up a few things. Or not. Not sure yet. Extra money would be nice since I'm taking the end of the month off and even if I have an empty schedule later, I'll still be in good company.

Two weeks! Two weeks and I'm back in SoCal. Yay! Looks like my dad is planning a trip to the desert and I already have plans to make plans with some friends. And best thing of all, Chicago!! My lovely kitty! I kind of wish he was the snuggly type, but I love him the way he is.

Okies, at work, catch you laters.

"flower pretty"

Cards (most of them anyways) in the mail! Just realized I put the Japan ones into the special New Year's Cards slot that is probably the ones from the post office. Oops. I'm sure they'll get there eventually. *crosses fingers*

Doing these cards makes me feel like I'm reconnecting with my life.

So now I'm on my way to work. It's a full day today and tomorrow, but I'll be seeing some favorites and it's just two days. Monday's looking pretty skimpy. I can deal.

And I'm going home to SoCal soon, so that's cool.

Too hungry

It's 2pm and I haven't eaten anything. I'm so hungry nothing seems appealing. Or everything does. I'm not sure anymore.

I'm tempted to make Mac&Cheese when I get home. Part of me also just wants a baguette with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. And another part of me wants meat.

Then there's the question of instant gratification or saving money. Nah, I don't want to cook.

Back to work

Still DARK!

There's one shot that I found from my recent uploads that I realized was from on my way to work. 6:30am. Beautiful blue sky.

I forgot I used to go to work after the sun was already up.
Those days will eventually return, but for now, it's DARK! and COLD! and maybe even some SNOW!

So last night, I actually got one other, quite silly thing done and that was finish catching up on one of my favorite shows. I got from May to the New Year in about 12 hours. Rock! And I laughed a lot. It felt good.

Anyways I might have the evening off and if that's the case, I can get a bunch of other stuff done. Like the New Years Cards.
