I think I gotta get a massage between shifts today. Still totally worth it.

Found a delicious search on Pinterest: Sketchbook

So much creativity in so many forms. Paper! Pens! Pencils! Watercolors! Charcoals! Pastels! Markers! *drools*

Unfortunately, it's making my antsy again.

Want. To. Create. NOW.

Still haven't signed up for The Sketchbook Project yet.

But it's past midnight and I have another full day tomorrow. Start of the work week. Grawr!

Headed home: Arms=Jelly

Note the unenthusiastic peace. So out of shape and out of practice.

But I think I found a gym. This is good. I might be getting back into the climbing habit. And jumping down wasn't as scary as it has been. Still a major handicap, but not as bad as I feared.

Time to consult my climbing book again for training I can do at home and try to get in some exercise in the morning.

Going to give the gym in Osu a try. They have top rope! My harness is back in California, but at least I have my shoes and chalk bag.

Gotta trim my nails when I get to the gym.

I have butterflies. Or maybe I'm just hungry.

This place also has one on one lessons for a decent price, so I might take those to really learn how to boulder and, more importantly, fall.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. About two weeks ago, I quit my gym. I just wasn't going. A complete waste of cash.

So I'm going to climb instead. Hopefully the goal of sending routes will be more motivational then just using ellipticals.

Life is good.

It's not perfect, but this year was never going to be perfect.

I survived Monday which was an unfortunate combination of a full schedule and physical fatigue. Got to Tuesday with thankfully only one lesson, then fire extinguisher drill, which was pretty cool. Could have been better, but I'm glad I went. Then I dragged myself home and foolishly downloaded Puzzles and Dragons, to which I am now fully addicted. The creators did a kick ass job of creating a battle game that beginners like me can understand. And possibly vice versa.

And today, after tearing myself away from the game, I'm going to a Hokkaido lunch buffet then climbing tonight. All-in-al, pretty awesome.

Not much to say

Except that I am looking forward to my weekend and that starts tomorrow afternoon, so yay.

Back to work

Ooh, I could get used to this. Work, get back to the house before it gets too hot, nap or do other stuff for 4 hours, go back to work.

Of course, I could do other things like eat a hearty brunch then climb, though the gym opens at 1. Though I haven't even checked it out yet.

In anycase, I need a change. I'm getting antsy again. This maybe just enough to get me going.

Rearranging my life

So I quit my gym because regardless of whether or not I take up climbing again, after 4 months, I was unable to make the gym part of my routine.

I did check the site of a climbing gym that just opened last year. It seems reasonable and they have lessons so maybe I can work on my fear of falling. They have top rope and lead climbing as well. Awesome. I'm planning on checking it out next week. It's on my commute, so that's also a big plus.

But that's for next week. Today, I have to deal with work.

Summer is coming. And I have to do something with my schedule that keeps me sane. There's little that demotivates me more than the hot humid summer days.

Basically, I want to teach in the morning, sleep at the house until the evening, then go back to work. Will figure something out.

Coming to a realization

I'm not gym material.

I can barely bring myself to go the few times a month I actually go. And considering the schedule I have coming up, it's not going to change.

I've got to find something that works for me. Maybe I should go back to climbing.

Turning Pages: Frozen Heat

Now that I finished BACCANO! in all of its chaotic glory and Castle is on summer hiatus, I figured it's the perfect time to pick up the fourth Nikki Heat novel.

Pretty damn good so far, actually. Might look into getting the Derrick Storm novels too.

Back to work

I love having a Sunday with no obligations. I got my laundry done, watched a bunch of Castle, and slept. It was glorious.

And I'm glad I did. Today somehow turned into a full day. At least I'm rested.

On (the) edge

I started to write something, then realized it was pretty bleak, so I deleted it.

Taking the weekend off. Samantha's coming into town tonight and we're hanging out tomorrow. Morning, pizza, beer, and purikura. Should be good.

She's heading back to Hama that night, but I decided to keep Sunday off just because and it worked out perfectly. I need a day to sort things out in my head. Or just to work on my tree.

First things first: survive work today.

Wordless Wednesday: 招き猫

At the theater: プラチナデータ

*was going to send this earlier, then my phone died*

Had enough energy after training, so I decided to catch another movie.

Based on a Higashino Keigo novel and starring Nino and ToyoEtsu. Looks kinda Minority Report-ish.

If this was any other week, I'd be teaching in the morning then heading off to do as I please. But not today. Maybe out of a desire to rebel, though participating in training was out of my own volition, I decided to take advantage of not having a 7am, sleep in and take a later train.

Amazing how 45 minutes can make a difference, both in my mood and the number of people on the train. It's not packed, but I can't get a seat. Meh.

Alrighties, time to make the most of today. Maybe I'll catch a movie tonight.

Happy Mother's Day

A bit late over here, but I Skyped with my mom yesterday before work and called my grandmother after work.

To all the mothers out there, thank you for the love and support you give to your children.

Turning Pages: BACCANO! 1931-Winter the time of the oasis

The part I look forward to and dread the most in a BACCANO! novel: the last chapter.

Everything leads to this. Each time. The fall of the dominos. The chaos that ensues. So much fun.

And then it ends. And then I have to wait months for the next one.

But first! To finish this one.

Another morning, another week

If you follow me on Twitter or Vine or know me on Facebook or look at the Instagrams on the left, you'll have noticed that I bought a big sketch book and while page one was simple enough, for page two I decided to draw a tree. With lots of leaves. I'm at peace with the fact that it might take me all month or longer. But after two days of working on it, I find I'm sad that I probably don't have time tonight to work on it. Maybe I can squeeze in a few leaves.

Me and walking: Not always smart

So after walking down 10 flights of stairs for the emergency drill around 2:30, I decided to go to LOFT, resulting in my usual hour of doing laps on the stationery floor. Then having a brilliant idea, I headed to Meieki, walking to Fushimi before giving up and taking the subway the rest of the way. I did some laps at my favorite small stationery floor, bought the stuff I was looking for, went back to the movie theater to buy a sticker, checked out my regular photo printing shop for possible cute stuff, and now I'm finally on my way back to my room.

My shoes don't have much padding, so I'm literally clinching my fists in pain. Thankfully, I've already broken in these shoes, so my feet are simply fatigued and not blistered.

So worth it though.

At the theater: 藁の楯 - After thoughts

Okay, so, 大沢たかお is totally hot.

Yeah, that's my takeaway. Seriously hot.

I liked him from JIN and recently the first episode of the second Galileo, but he really was damn good in this movie. I really enjoyed it, despite how heavy it was, and most of the credit goes to him. He owned the role.

Major props to 藤原竜也 as well for playing a convincing psychopath beyond salvation.

More in my monthly wrap-up. Which reminds me I still need to write up April. Eep.

At the theater: 藁の楯

Note to self: In Screen 5, Seat 13 is the center. If staff say otherwise, they're just clueless.

Looked at the schedule and found a movie that fit my schedule perfectly, so I decided to skip shopping and watch what might be messed up movie. We shall see.

Evacuation Training

I've got one lesson at 7 then an hour and a half of what sounds like going down ten flights of stairs at 1. It's voluntary but I'm getting paid, which is kinda cool. I'd do it without the pay because all of us should know how to evacuate the building, but I'll gladly accept the cash.

During my downtime, I think I'll head over to UNIQLO and GU since Golden Week is over and the crowds should have dissipated by now.

Work schedule thoughts

I've mentioned before that my Fridays and Mondays tend to be hell. I leave the house at 6am and get back around 11pm. I have about 3 hours of break in there, but that has to include cleaning up in one place, transit, brunch, and set up in the second place.

This week is Golden Week, so I'm holiday schedule. I'm in one place and I'm at the house longer. But I get less done. And this same schedule is getting on my nerves. I feel trapped.

I so not cut out for a desk job. Or maybe I am. It's more of an extreme and then I can deal. Plus I can decide how the work flows. I like having control.

And now that I've secured a 3 hour break for myself today, I feel much better.

To work

We're in the second half of Golden Week and I'm working my usual days, but weekend hours yesterday and Monday, which means leaving the house at 9 instead of 6 and getting back around 9 rather than 11.

Yesterday after work, I dropped by the Creators Festa in the same building as work to get a bookmark done by one of my favorite local artists. I went by on Monday to say hi and he remembered me from last year. Awesome.

Today, I closed my last lesson and I'm running some errands before heading back. Maybe I'll get a massage too.

Vine: May 1 - First tea

When I was in Hama, I dropped by the Entetsu department store and found the new tea season had already begun. I missed the really good stuff that I got last year, but I still got some pretty decent stuff. Proper green tea is seriously amazingly good. The aroma and flavor are completely different. Just drinking it brings happiness. Good stuff.
