Today's Done List

Thinking about titles for these posts. Will try a few and see what sticks.

Friday, January 30

1. Wrote and posted 2 postcards

2. Started looking into letterpress printers to make business cards

3. Picked up some cartridges for Yosegi-chan

4. Started a special secret project

5. Used a 500yen coupon and picked up some refills for work

6. Am one step closer to completing my TOKIO fountain pen set (Yes, you read that correctly)

7. Handled work relatively smoothly

A bit of a lazy day as rainy mornings tend to be. But stuff still got done. Two more days of work until a nice day off.

What I Accomplished Today

This will most likely not be daily and definitely not include everything, but I feel the need to look back on the productiveness of my day. Celebrate the small victories. Because some days laundry is just laundry and others, conquering the laundry basket parfait is something that deserves celebration. That's life.

Tentative process of these posts, start a keitai post when something gets done, add to the list throughout the day, finish off and post on the commute home. For days off, I'll think about it when Monday rolls around.

Thursday, January 29th

1. Finished my work nails

2. Flushed out and cleaned my pen because the converter was leaking again. Currently using a cartridge.

3. Fixed my work nails after I screwed them up in the shower

4. Posted work nails on Instagram and started a new hashtag to keep track of them

5. Sent off an email rather than just letting the draft sit on my iPad until it was irrelavant

6. Had lunch instead of getting bread and just filling up on carbs

7. Got through work relatively painlessly

Nail-centric, but still productive. :)

TOKIO Fangirl: Words cannot express...

TOKIO fangirl: One more day!

Just remembered: The concert DVD comes out tomorrow! Squee!

While I still hold that 1718 was a better concert, HEART was still loads of fun. And this is another DVD of the actual concert I was at. Some camera angles will be the same as my line of sight. Squee!

Stopped by to chat to a lady I befriended in Fushimi Inari. This is now a part of my Kyoto trips.

And now I'm back at Kyoto station with enough time for food. Yay.

Fushimi Inari and New Umbrella

Went by the temple, dropped by the post office, put my stuff in a locker, bought an umbrella and now at Fushimi Inari, hoping there's enough time for me to get to the top and back to Kyoto station with enough time to go back to the house, drop off my stuff and get my bag for training at 7.

Okies, sending this off while I have reception. :)

Dropped by the temple to say hi to Dad and give him my mother's and Chicago's regards, checked into my hotel, chilled, then made my way to Uragu, which is easily one of the most kick-ass stationery stores ever. Stocked up on postcards and now I'm walking up the Kamo River on my way to Suzando Hashimoto to get some more stationery. A lovely day so far.

To Kyoto!

Nails painted and bag overpacked as is the norm, I'm off to Kyoto.

It'll be nice to get away.

Expect latergrams of stationery and lots of torii gates.

Can't think of an appropriate title...

I've got today at work, then I'm off to Kyoto to say hi to Dad as has become tradition on January 26.

It's coming up on two years. I'm usually perfectly fine, even if sometimes only on the outside, but from around Christmas to probably some time in February, I'm in a funk and it's harder to keep balance. It'll pass. It always does.

On a Mel's-still-Mel note, I'm also picking up a load of stationery on Sunday and taking a much needed hike to the top of Fushimi Inari Monday morning.

At the Theater: Sin City-A Dame to Kill for - After thoughts

That was entertaining. I needed that.

Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but I liked it.

I also picked up this business card case. Just had to.
What can I say? Love Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Now back to the real world.

At the Theater: Sin City-A Dame to Kill for

Joseph Gordon-Levitt!

That is all.

Not really, but his presence in a movie is always an incentive. To be honest, I don't quite remember the first one aside from the fact that I liked it.

Here we go!

Productive, sort of

After a massively long sleep in and much needed Skype session with my mom while I got some laundry done, I paid my rent, called my grandmother, went to my training session, bought a ticket for a movie, made an appointment to get my hair cut and now I'm trying to get stuff done at a cafe for tomorrow before Sin City in an hour.

But to tell the truth, I just want to chill and enjoy my macchiato. :)

Notes to myself

Some stuff started to throw me off yesterday and today so I posted this note to myself.

Bring it on.
(That might be one for another day.)

Notes to myself

You have to come from your core really tight

Shoulders down

Neck long

And then just think "murder" and walk

OK, so maybe not the last part, but still a good reminder to have good posture.

Ouroboros i.e. OMG! TOMA AND SHUN! *FLAIL*

Started last night. I haven't seen it yet, but it's waiting for me on my grandmother's HDR. Can't wait!

For anyone curious, Toma and Shun are childhood friends. Toma becomes a cop and Shun becomes yakuza. They fight evil together. (By "evil", I think they mean corruption.)

At the Theater: The Hobbit-The Battle of Five Armies; Afterthoughts

To be honest, I kept my expectations way low. So that might have played a role, but I was plesantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Especially since the part I was looking forward to the most, was much shorter than I expected.

I was taken in by the movie. Of course, I take issue with a number of points, but for the sheer entertainment value I got out of it, I don't really mind.

At the theater: The Hobbit-The Battle of Five Armies

Getting it in before work today and before the movie leaves theaters. Gotta see Smaug fly around on the big screen. Whee!

Let the movies of 2015 begin!

It's raining!

Instead of doing anything productive, I indulged in a morning of sleeping in while listening to the rain outside my window. And now I'm on my way to work with my rainboots on which always make me feel like I have a superpower. I can walk through puddles and still have dry socks!

Yeah, my life is fun.

Retail Therapy

On my way back from training, I dropped by local AEON to pick up something for my grandmother and they completely redid the place.

It used to just be an AEON with a few other shops.

Now there's a stationery store, a book store, a Uniqlo, a Muji, and an import store. Ended up staying for 4 hours and picking up a lot of stuff.

This might become a regular place for me to drop by.

So Asahi Super Dry's most recent Masha campaign is him pondering the key to what makes beer taste good.

The result is a person that looks like a mix of Masha and Yukawa with all of the hotness of both.

I highly approve.
